Introduction

As our organisation grows and develops, an exciting new opportunity has arisen for a highly-organised individual with an aptitude and enthusiasm for finance to join us as Assistant Management Accountant. 

The purpose of the role is to assist the Management Accountant and the Director of Finance in providing efficient and insightful management reporting and financial process delivery.  It is a forward-looking role, focussed on harnessing our systems and processes to drive the Diocese forwards in its mission.

The post forms part of our small Finance team, based at our open-plan main office at Clifton Moor, York.  It is available 20 hours per week, with some flexibility over the working pattern.  We offer a competitive salary, good holiday provision, and generous pension arrangements.

In this recruitment we have the flexibility to appoint either a proficient individual with a strong track record in similar roles, or somebody with the right skills and aptitude looking to build a career in this area.  The grade and salary offered to the successful applicant will reflect this.

Main Responsibilities

You will assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and the delivery of robust and insightful management information.  You will assist in various finance process, including processing and reporting on our income, investment transaction processes, month end accounts, payroll and VAT returns.  You will provide support to and work with a range of stakeholders within the organisation.

The Ideal Candidate

You will ideally bring a strong track record in a similar role, although we do have some flexibility to appoint somebody with aptitude looking to build a career in this area.  You will be a highly organised individual used to working under pressure and in a busy office environment.  You will have excellent skills in working with people and systems.  You will have empathy with the Christian faith and be committed to working in support of our ministry and mission.
