Eccles Team Ministry
Are you called to lead the church’s mission and outreach in two open evangelical urban parishes in Greater Manchester? St Andrew’s Eccles and Christ Church, Patricroft both have a church school and are seeking to engage with their local neighbourhood.

Introduction
The new Team Vicar will:
- Have a heart for mission in an area where many people are living on low incomes and there are high levels of deprivation
- Respond imaginatively to key opportunities for mission
- Have a passion for school ministry
- Understand contemporary cultures and be excited by the possibility of fresh expressions of church within them
- Join a supportive team (including Team Rector, an OLM and several Readers and Authorised Lay Ministers)

- Role Purpose
General
- To exercise the cure of souls shared with the bishop in this benefice in collaboration with your colleagues
- To have regard to the calling and responsibilities of the clergy as described in the Canons, the Ordinal, the Code of Professional Conduct for the Clergy and other relevant legislation.
- To work to advance the Kingdom of God through servant leadership, collaboration and example, and with particular regard to the current diocesan mission goals:
a) GROWING – growing new disciples in missionary church communities which are younger, more diverse, active and spiritually engaged.
b) NURTURING – increasing vocations, nurturing new and existing disciples, increasing financial giving
c) SERVING – present for all, speaking and acting prophetically for justice, supporting pastorally especially the vulnerable, deprived and excluded
- To share in the wider work of the deanery and diocese as appropriate, for the building up of the whole Body of Christ
- To share with lay and ordained colleagues in taking assemblies, preaching and in leading church services and occasional offices across the benefice
Specific
- Pastoral responsibility for Christ Church, Patricroft and St Andrew’s, Eccles
- Maintain and develop close and effective links with local schools
- Oversee Youth ministry across the Team and line manage a youth worker when one is appointed.
- Review the experience of Messy Church and explore opportunities for other “Fresh Expressions” of church and alternative worship to engage families.
- Develop links with members of the Muslim community to promote community cohesion and to explore opportunities for evangelism

The Team Rector, Ross Garner took up his post in September 2017 and is looking for a full-time colleague to share with him in the development of the mission and ministry of the four parishes in the Team. The Team Vicar will be living in a modern 4 bedroom vicarage near to St Andrew’s, Eccles.
The benefice is a Team comprising the four distinct parishes of St Mary the Virgin Eccles (known as Eccles Parish Church to distinguish it from St Mary’s R.C. Church on the same street), St Paul’s Monton, Christ Church Patricroft and St Andrew’s Eccles. St Mary and St Paul’s are sharing a minister, the Team Rector, for the first time from September 2017. Previously, St Paul’s had a Team Vicar. St Andrew’s and Christ Church have been sharing the ministry of a Team Vicar for 10 years.

Applicants for the post should
- Be mature in their own faith and rooted in a discipline of prayer E
- Be able to work with people of differing traditions and be comfortable in leading formal and informal worship appropriate to the different types of service held in our churches E
- Be open to the work of the Holy Spirit and comfortable with Kingdom theology D
- Be an able communicator of the faith with a strong commitment to the authority of scripture E
Experience and understanding
Applicants should be able to demonstrate the following
- Experience of working in a team setting (even if not a formal team) D
- Have completed their IME years 4-7 training E
- Experience of working in schools E
- Experience and knowledge of healing ministry D
- Experience of living and working in an Urban Area D
- Understand what helps churches grow E
- Experience of outreach to Muslims D
