Introduction

The South Gillingham Team comprises the four churches (one PCC) of: St Matthew's Wigmore, St Paul's Parkwood, St Peter's Bredhurst and All Saints Hempstead.  All four churches are known as friendly, welcoming and inclusive places, eager to continue working together to build on all that God is doing in the benefice.

We are now prayerfully seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and strategic Team Rector to work alongside our committed churchwardens, licensed lay ministers and volunteers.   The right person for this role would be an experienced and forward thinking leader who delights in working with families, children and young people, and nurture this vital ministry with creativity and care.

As a two-post Benefice, the Team Rector will also be able to assist in choosing a Team Vicar to support them in these exciting mission opportunities.

What we offer:

  • 4 welcoming and supportive church families, committed to worship and community life.
  • A collaborative and capable Team of lay ministers and volunteers, and paid administrative support.
  • Congregations from a diverse and inclusive worshipping culture, who are supportive yet open to change.
  • Missional/outreach opportunities to increase engagement with schools and families, as well as those in a growing local population.
  • A parsonage that is a spacious, 4 bedroom family home in Wigmore.
  • A lively programme of worship, music, pastoral care, school links and community events.
  • Potential for growth and development within all four churches

In particular we hope our new Rector will:

  • Have a strong, passionate faith and prayer life, with a heart for mission, evangelism and growth, and with experience in creating and implementing outreach activities.
  • Be a good communicator and preach the Gospel in a way that is accessible to all.
  • Have good experience of working with schools and families.
  • Value collaborative working, happy to delegate and share responsibilities.
  • Be committed to working across the whole Team, being a visible and friendly presence in all four churches and communities.
  • Be able to recognise potential in people and want to encourage and nurture their gifts and vocation.
