Introduction

St James & St John are two growing village churches, just south of Lancaster, well-embedded in local life with a vision “to love as Jesus loves.” Could you be our next Vicar?

We are two welcoming and growing village churches in Forton and Galgate, just south of Lancaster.   Rooted in scripture, prayer and the Anglican tradition while also being open to creativity and new ways of engaging people of all ages. Sunday worship is broadly traditional, with music at its heart. We are committed to life-long discipleship and to serving our local communities as an expression of the gospel. We are well embedded in local life with strong links to two village schools, community organisations and the University of Lancaster. With significant new housing developments in both villages, there are exciting opportunities for pastoral presence, mission development and growth.

We are praying for a Vicar who is:

  • Spiritually grounded, prayerful and compassionate
  • An inspiring and collaborative leader
  • Approachable, pastoral and good-humoured
  • A clear and engaging communicator
  • Mission minded and innovative
  • Committed to children, young people and families
  • An enabling and encouraging organiser

Closing date: 12 noon Monday 25th May

Interviews will be held on: Tuesday 9th June 2026
