New Congregations Lead (Part Time)
The Diocese of Leeds is looking for a passionate, pastoral and visionary New Congregations Lead to help support, strengthen, and grow new worshipping communities across the Diocese. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of mission and discipleship within the mixed ecology of the Church of England.
About the Role
As part of the Barnabas Programme Team, you’ll work with colleagues across mission, discipleship, and leadership development to ensure new congregations have the pathways, resources, and support they need to flourish.
Key Responsibilities
- Explore existing new congregations to understand their discipleship, leadership, and stewardship pathways and needs.
- Share stories that inspire others to start sustainable new congregations.
- Develop resources to support discipleship, leadership, and generosity.
- Act as a link with Fresh Expressions, Greenhouse, Myriad Collective, and similar networks.
- Support project teams working with children, young people, and lay leaders.
- Contribute to the small grants scheme and maintain accurate CRM reporting.
- Encourage good practice in story sharing, leadership development, and monitoring progress.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- A committed and baptised Christian with experience of starting a new congregation or worshipping community.
- Passionate about helping new congregations grow lifelong disciples.
- Confident working across the breadth of Church of England traditions.
- An excellent communicator with strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Skilled at building relationships, encouraging volunteers, and working collaboratively.
- Comfortable interpreting data to inform good practice.
- Experience in project management or monitoring is desirable.
