Overview

The Bishop of Newcastle wishes to appoint a full-time priest to be Vicar of Newcastle Christ Church with St Ann and Chaplain to Northumbria University

Introduction

This is an exciting opportunity to develop parish-based ministry with students as well as nurturing existing congregations who are looking to continue to grow closer to God and develop their buildings for mission.

Main Responsibilities

Key to this role is working across Northumbria University as part of the volunteer chaplaincy team, connecting the university communities with the diverse and vibrant communities of Shieldfield and the Ouseburn. There are also opportunities for strengthening outreach through the existing partnership with the Church of England Primary School in the parish next to Christ Church.  

The Ideal Candidate

The Benefice spans parts of Newcastle city centre and student accommodation hubs, diverse and low-income communities as well as the arts venues, restaurants and bars of Ouseburn.
