Introduction

The Bishop of Rochester seeks to appoint a Vicar (Interim – initially for 3 years)
for the Parish of St Mary the Virgin, Riverhead with Dunton Green

Could you help us reach our growing parish in Sevenoaks?

After recent changes in parish structure, Riverhead with Dunton Green is now seeking fresh life as a single parish. St Mary’s has a much-loved choral and Eucharistic tradition, fresh initiatives including a new afternoon service for young families and a congregation keen to reach out and ready to support you. With an increasing population, this is an important opportunity for growth in one of the South East’s most attractive towns.

We are praying for a vicar who is:

  • an open and down-to-earth, prayerful leader, inspiring all ages
  • passionate and creative about mission
  • an experienced teacher, able to discern and develop our gifts
  • able to honour our traditional worship while exploring newer approaches
  • a visible, positive presence in both communities and their schools

 In return we offer:

  • a friendly, faithful congregation and the support of our Licensed Lay Minister
  • a spacious four-bedroom vicarage with a study, a short walk from church and Sevenoaks station
  • support from the Diocese to help make our ambitious plans reality
  • life in Sevenoaks: a historic market town with Knole’s deer park, a thriving arts scene, excellent schools and 35-minute trains to London

The interim post is explained more fully in the Parish Profile.

Full details are in the Parish Profile, which can be downloaded from the ‘Vacancies’ section
