Overview

Church Children and Families Worker (2 year fixed term)

3 days a week (21 hrs)

Salary from £15,954 - £17,867 (FTE: £26,590 - £29,779)

 

The Diocese of Rochester is recruiting a Church Children and Families Worker into Christ Church in Erith, this role is funded by the Strategic Development Fund. The role will develop and lead on initiatives that engage with children and families throughout the parish, working well with the local schools and colleges, in the Parish and Deanery.

Introduction

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for planning and leading suitable children and families’ activities for our new worshipping communities of Messy Church and Toddler Church. To work with volunteers in delivering planned activities
  • Develop and deliver existing seasonal events and continue to build relationships with the local community to support the parish in identify needs and establishing new initiatives.
  • Nurture and develop a team of volunteer leaders and helpers to run and support new worshipping communities.
  • Form links and work in partnership with schools and other statutory and voluntary organisations that work with children and families within the Borough.
  • Work in partnership with the children and families team at St John the Baptist Church in Erith.
  • Prepare and produce regular reports on children and families ministry for the parish and the project.

 

Candidates will have the skills, energy, and passion to enable new worshipping communities to grow in faith and be enriched in their lives.

 

Successful candidates should:

  • Have experience organising and leading events and activities and leading volunteer teams.
  • Have recent experience of working with children and families.
  • Ability to communicate the Christian faith, particularly to children and families not familiar with church life and to inspire others.
  • Be confident in using social media and the internet to promote the work as appropriate.
  • Be able to engage with and relate to a wide range of families and individuals, and to work collaboratively with both lay and ordained people.

The post holder will, at times, be the public face of the church in Erith, it is considered that there is an Occupational Requirement (OR) for the postholder to be a communicant member of the Church of England, or of a Church in communion therewith or of a member Church of the Council of Churches for Britain and Ireland or of Churches Together in England, or of a member Church of the Evangelical Alliance.
