Overview
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to join a new ministry team in the vibrant and beautiful coastal town in Falmouth?
We are looking for a House for Duty Minister to help grow a fruitful Church and reach out to the local community.
You will live in a stunning, contemporary house, four minutes’ walk from the beach in a beautiful, coastal location in South Cornwall.
Introduction
Carnmarth South Deanery have embraced a call to mission and ministry in and around Falmouth. This has birthed a Bishop’s Mission Order for the deanery as well as investment in the diocese’s ‘Transforming Mission’ project and the pioneering of new ways of being Church.
Through the recent ‘On the Way’ Deanery consultation process a vision has been born in the Deanery for the growth of a variety of new ministries both lay and ordained that will enable the Deanery to more wholly embrace with a renewed confidence the diocesan vision to follow The Saints’ Way.
We are looking for an experienced priest to see this vision become a reality and are trusting in the Lord to bring the person of His choosing to serve Him in this next important chapter of Christian witness in Cornwall.
Main Responsibilities
To provide within the benefice:
• A rich expression of worship reflecting the various traditions and styles in our churches,
• Worship which nourishes and nurtures believers in Word and Spirit,
• Teaching which enables new leaders, preachers, worship leaders and pastoral ministers to develop,
• Opportunities to work in partnership with Fairwinds to reach out to the poor and marginalised and explore healing in the community and the expression of spiritual gifts,
• Teams from all churches to lead mission, outreach and pastoral support,
• An effective approach to communications which enables us to work together and engage with the wider
community,
• Opportunities for close working with other denominations and agencies.
In the early stages our preaching and teaching across the benefice will need to encourage congregations to think through the possibilities of engaging in ministry, which does not solely rely upon clergy. This will include, amongst other things, Lay Worship Leading; leading intercessions; as well as other important leadership roles within the life of the Church.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is prayerful, has a love for God’s Word and is led by the Holy Spirit to:
- support our full time stipendiary minister in finding new ways of ministering to the parishes
- work with our Missioner in reaching out to the poor and marginalised.
- be an enabler and team builder
- help develop and support a strong lay team for outreach and pastoral care
- nourish and nurture believers in word and worship
- take services and occasional offices with a flexible approach to traditions and styles of worship
