Rector of The Hodder Valley
Vacancy Reference cofe/TP/70992/6209
Overview
Are you a priest with a heart for rural ministry and a spirit of adventure? If so, we have an exciting opportunity that could be just right for you.
Introduction
Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Forest of Bowland, the newly formed and distinctively rural single Parish of the Hodder Valley covers one of the most unspoilt parts of Lancashire. The parish was formed in July 2023 by the joining together of Whitewell St Michael in Diocese of Blackburn and the Benefice of Slaidburn with Tosside, previously in Leeds Diocese.
Currently, there is weekly worship in St Andrew’s Slaidburn and fortnightly at Whitewell. Two other small chapels of ease have occasional worship. The parishes are “Lancashire Low” in churchmanship and the Patrons are Church Society Trust and Bishop of Blackburn. Services are taken mainly from Common Worship. There is a church school in Slaidburn which is an important part of the ministry of the Rector.
