Introduction

Here in Wigan we see God at work, sending streams of living water to bring fresh hope and new life to people and places. And we believe God wants to do even more, that our communities will rejoice and bloom.

Therefore we want to appoint to the team a priest who is an evangelist. We want someone whose passion to see the gospel proclaimed beyond the boundaries of the church will keep pushing us outward, who can lead on embedding a culture of evangelism as well as key outreach activities, and nurture new evangelists. Might that be you?

You will be a senior figure in the Wigan clergy team that shares the prayer, discernment and planning of the whole mission to Wigan, and which provides peer support and spiritual formation. At the same time, you will be a crucial part of the excellent parish team in Chapelfields, working closely with local clergy colleagues, Hub Leadership Team (HLT) and other lay leaders.

This is a key leadership role, with an impact on a Wigan-wide and local level. This role is not so much a split role as it is a chance for an evangelistic clergy leader to exercise their gift fruitfully as part of their activities at pan-Wigan and local level.

This is a full-time stipendiary role as Team Vicar in the Wigan Team Ministry, and a modern 4-bedroom house is provided in Abram within the Wigan East (Chapelfields) parish.
