Introduction
The Bishop of Southwark wishes to appoint a
Priest in Charge (House for Duty) of St Barnabas, Sutton
At St Barnabas, you will find that we have a committed and caring congregation; we look after one another and try to involve the local community in our worship and social events. We have rotas for readers, servers and intercessors. We enjoy having Holy Communion most Sundays, and are open to trying other services. We would love to be going forward with a new vicar to guide us.
St Barnabas is a beautiful Grade 2 Listed Building in the popular London borough of Sutton. We have been fundraising for extensive roof repairs for the past couple of years and have very nearly reached our target, with work due to begin at the end of June.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have good people skills that you enjoy using
- Have a good sense of humour
- Collaborate with the congregation in introducing new ways
- Take a pastoral interest in uniform groups to try and encourage families to come to church
- Be flexible with your time, but we would encourage you to take your proper time off so that you are able to enjoy a good work/life balance
- Be able to guide us in our shared vision for the future
- Have sensitivity and empathy for all age groups
