Introduction

(0.5 FTE) Priest in Charge of the benefice of St. Chad's, Wilne & St. Mary's, Draycott with St. Michaels, Breaston.

We hope and pray for someone who has the humility and grace needed both to lead and work alongside others to equip, shape and resource growing church and building community that God’s Kingdom may come.

  • Is Spirit-led, prayerful and strategic and can work with an established and gifted leadership team, helping the church engage effectively with Mission Action Planning.
  • Will mentor and develop existing leaders and staff and develop new ones, identifying and enabling gifting and calling.
  • Is content to work with a range of worship styles
  • Can work with the youth and children’s team to help further develop this exciting area of ministry and mission across the Benefice.
  • Can build partnerships across the Benefice, developing homegroups and facilitating pastoral care.
  • Will strengthen and enhance existing community links and relationships in a way that leads to a growth in faith and discipleship, including the possibility of new worshipping communities.

There is a well-established and experienced team who are excited to work with the new Priest in Charge focussing on the next phase of mission and ministry and making it a reality. This is likely to include developing the youth and children’s work, strengthening and growing community partnerships and opportunities, establishing homegroups and effective pastoral work and considering the opportunity for new worshipping communities.

The two Parishes and three churches (one of which is used infrequently) have their own individual identities whilst also working together in some areas of mission and ministry.

The Benefice, effectively made up of the villages of Draycott and Breaston, is towards the south-eastern corner of Derby Diocese, between Long Eaton and Derby.  There is some industrial heritage, but many of the residents now are commuters to surrounding towns, although it is considered a pleasant setting for retirement as well.

The New Rectory is a large 4-bedroomed 1980’s house in Breaston, close to St Michael’s and the centre of the village. Draycott is a 4 minute drive from Breaston.
