Introduction

(HfD) Associate Vicar at Lyminster and Wick

This Benefice is situated in a vibrant, growing area on the north of Littlehampton within the Deanery of Arundel and Bognor. The Incumbent and the Acting Bishop of Chichester seek to appoint an Associate Vicar (House for Duty) who will offer a faithful evangelistic, pastoral and liturgical ministry, as we seek to know, love and follow Jesus.

We are praying for a priest who will:

  • contribute to the energy, optimism and mission of these growing parishes
  • be a priest who is gifted in collaborative leadership, working with the Priest in Charge, ministry team and volunteers
  • share in the development of our emerging vision to be ‘Spirit-filled disciples who deeply know, love and follow Jesus.’
  • celebrate the broad, diverse and generous culture across the benefice
  • serve with joy and warmth in their pastoral ministry, sustained by their own deep faith in Christ and with confidence in biblical teaching and liturgical, eucharistic worship
  • be a gifted communicator of God’s truth, love and grace to people of all ages and backgrounds
  • be committed to the inspiration and authority of the Bible in all matters of faith and conduct
  • be gospel-centred, Spirit-filled and Spirit-led

We offer:

  • welcoming church families willing to reach out in love and service to the wider community
  • committed volunteers and lay leaders
  • a spacious vicarage in the heart of the community in Wick
  • a collaborative Deanery within the Diocese of Chichester, where our vision is ‘to know, love and follow Jesus

This is a House for Duty post, with an expectation that the office holder will give the equivalent of 2.5 days per week, including all or part of Sunday.

For an informal conversation about the role, please contact the Ven Dr Tom Carpenter, Archdeacon of Chichester at ArchChichester@chichester.anglican.org or the Revd Lisa Fairman-Brown, Priest in Charge of Lyminster & Wick.
