Introduction
The Archdeaconry of Reigate is the largest Archdeaconry geographically within the Diocese of Southwark. It comprises suburban outer London and smaller commuter towns, and beautiful Surrey countryside. Comprising the Deaneries of Sutton, Reigate, and Tandridge the Archdeaconry includes a wide variety of opportunities for ministry and mission, and serves areas of substantial wealth and hidden poverty. Much of the Archdeaconry lies to the south of the M25 and at its southernmost point it includes Gatwick Airport.
The successful candidate for this exciting post will be an experienced priest who knows and values the Church of England, who exhibits a commitment to mission and who will relate positively to, and value, the spectrum of Anglican tradition as expressed in urban, suburban and rural parishes. An understanding of new patterns of ministry, the ability to work relationally with parish clergy and officers, to inspire trust while thinking and leading strategically, and experience of managing change are crucial to the role. Wisdom, resourcefulness, adaptability, a commitment to pastoral care and skills in working collaboratively are also vital in a Diocese that seeks to be Christ centred and outward focused.
