Introduction

Diocese of Carlisle & Cumbria Methodist Circuit

House for Duty Minister

(if an Anglican appointment, this will be a Priest in Charge, but the post is also open to ordained Methodist presbyters)

Lamplugh Kirkland and Ennerdale LEP

One parish, three beautiful churches

This combined Parish is set in a UNESCO World Heritage site among the unspoiled lakes and fells of West Cumberland.  It has recently reviewed its Mission Action Plan.   For over 30 years, it has been a Local Ecumenical Partnership (LEP) incorporating both Anglican and Methodist traditions.  This is a ‘House for Duty’ appointment, nominally based on Sunday duties plus a 2-day working week, so applicants will need to be substantially self-supporting.  It is open to ordained Anglican priests, or to ordained Methodist presbyters.  The living is suspended only in order to facilitate an ecumenical appointment.  No pastoral reorganisation is currently contemplated.

We seek someone who………….

  • Encourages spiritual growth
  • Embraces the ecumenical county’s God for All values
  • Is respectful of tradition but welcomes fresh ideas
  • Is inspirational, listening, challenging, encouraging, approachable
  • Is active in developing and implementing the Mission Action Plan
  • Is widely experienced with an appreciation of rural life
  • Is instinctively collaborative,
  • Positively contributes to the Mission Community
  • Fosters the ecumenical nature of the Parish
  • Encourages lay participation
  • Works equally well across all age groups
  • Plays an active role in community life
