Introduction

Generous Giving Officer

Do you have a passion for helping churches thrive? As a Generous Giving Officer in the Church of England, you’ll play a vital role in supporting parishes to build healthy, sustainable patterns of giving.

What does this look like?

You’ll work hands-on with churches to:

  • Review current giving levels and understand financial data.

  • Spot opportunities for growth and introduce practical solutions.

  • Help implement easy, secure giving options like the Parish Giving Scheme, digital platforms, and contactless devices.

You’ll also support stewardship initiatives – creating resources, delivering presentations, and guiding PCCs and clergy step by step.

Beyond the numbers

This role is about people as much as finance. You’ll:

  • Coach leaders on talking about money with confidence.
  • Provide templates for giving campaigns and improve financial reporting.
  • Promote good governance and troubleshoot practical issues like Gift Aid.
  • Work closely with treasurers, churchwardens, and clergy to plan for the future.

Through practical advice, training, and relational support, you’ll help churches build strong financial foundations – so they can focus on what matters most: mission and ministry.

This position combines two part-time roles: one as a Giving Advisor and another to cover maternity leave for 12 months. After the 12-month period, the role may become full-time, depending on the workload.
