Overview
We are looking for an organised, proactive and empathetic Personal Assistant (PA) and Area Administrator to support the Archdeacon of Northolt and help ensure the smooth running of the Willesden Area office.
This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of the Diocese of London, combining high-level PA support with wider administrative responsibilities. You will be a key point of contact for clergy, church wardens, parish administrators and colleagues across the Diocese, helping people feel supported, heard and well-served
This role would suit someone who enjoys working at pace, managing competing priorities, and contributing meaningfully to the mission of the Church of England.
Job Summary
The postholder provides comprehensive PA support to the Archdeacon of Northolt while also carrying wider administrative responsibility for the Willesden Area. The role sits within the Willesden Area team and works closely with the Bishops’ Office, clergy, parish representatives and Diocesan colleagues.
The role is central to effective communication, diary and meeting management, record-keeping, financial administration and coordination of key area activities, including visitations, clergy appointments and parish returns.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-level PA support to the Archdeacon, including diary management, correspondence, meeting preparation and minute-taking
- Act as the first point of contact for enquiries to the Archdeacon’s Office, using initiative and sound judgement
- Coordinate meetings, visitations, services and events, including annual Archdeacons’ visitations and Churchwarden admissions
- Support clergy vacancies, appointments and induction processes in collaboration with colleagues
- Maintain accurate records, databases and parish returns, ensuring confidentiality and GDPR compliance
- Support financial administration, including budget tracking and invoice approvals
- Work collaboratively with Area staff, the Bishops’ Office and external stakeholders
- Undertake safeguarding training and handle safeguarding-related enquiries appropriately

Person Specification (Essential Criteria)
- Educated to A-level standard or equivalent
- Experience working as a Personal Assistant or in a similar administrative role
- Strong organisational, planning and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion
- Empathy with the mission and values of the Church of England
- Right to work in the UK
- No DBS required
