The Diocese of Derby is looking for a highly organised and proactive Executive Assistant (Governance Officer) to support the Diocesan Secretary (CEO) and ensure the smooth running of our governance structures. This is a key role at the heart of our organisation, perfect for someone who thrives in a varied and fast‑paced environment
The Executive Assistant (Governance Officer) acts as a trusted partner to the Diocesan Secretary, managing priorities, communications, and projects to maximise their impact in supporting the mission of the Diocese.
The purpose of the role is:
- To support the Diocesan Secretary in ensuring robust, compliant, and effective governance across all diocesan boards and committees—in particular the Diocesan Synod, Bishop’s Council, and Business Committee. (c.70%)
- To support the Diocesan Secretary in ensuring that the organisation complies fully and effectively with Charity Commission and Companies House requirements and the GDPR.
- To provide highly effective administrative and strategic support to the Diocesan Secretary (CEO), ensuring the smooth operation of the Diocesan Secretary’s office and enabling their effective leadership across the organisation. (c.30%)
The role is extremely busy requiring excellent time management and organisational skills.
