Introduction

Parish of St James & St Francis Barrow

Revitalisation Priest*

Rising Faith Barrow, a key part of the Diocese of Carlisle’s planting and revitalisation strategy, is our town-wide vision to plant new faith communities, revive faith across our town, and raise up faith-filled leaders.

Could you be called to lead people to Jesus Christ and see his Church renewed in a changing urban community?

Critical to that vision is St James’, Hindpool, one of Barrow’s oldest churches: a parish church with deep roots and a strong choral and sacramental tradition, grounded in a gentle Anglo-Catholic spirituality, and with a growing desire to serve our largely terraced community with confidence and hope.

We are seeking a missional priest who will:

• Lead the revitalisation of St James’.
 • Deepen discipleship while valuing our musical and spiritual heritage.
 • Strengthen links with our Church of England junior school and local families.
 • Work collaboratively across the deanery.
 • Help us engage effectively with all in our local communities, enabling us to grow younger, plant a new congregation, and revitalise our existing congregation.

Supported by SMMIB investment funding, this post includes a planting curate (from 2027) and Youth & Children’s Mission support.

We offer:

• A friendly and supportive congregation who have caught a vision for mission and growth, and who hold an exciting vision for the future.
 • A purpose-built four-bedroom vicarage.
 • A deanery which prays and works together.

Come and help us plant, revive, and raise up leaders as we serve Jesus and Barrow together.
