Vicar for St Mary's Church, Hadlow
Vacancy Reference cofe/TP/63924/9926
Introduction
A vibrant parish in the heart of rural Kent seeks its new Vicar —
with an opportunity to shape the future of rural ministry as the Diocese's Rural Champion
Join us in nurturing a church that welcomes, values, and empowers every voice.
We are seeking someone who will:
• Bring a pastoral heart and desire to serve the whole community
• Be a collaborative leader, enabling and empowering the many gifted lay people within the parish
• Offer imaginative and accessible worship while sustaining our valued Eucharistic and choral tradition
• Be visible in the parish, including schools, Hadlow College, community groups, and village events
• Champion a deeply inclusive church ensuring every voice is welcomed, valued and called to lead
In addition, one day a week is dedicated to serving as the Diocese’s Rural Champion (a new role), supporting and encouraging rural parishes across the Diocese of Rochester in mission and ministry — an exciting opportunity to champion their unique gifts and shape a thriving rural future.
About Us:
St Mary’s is a lively single parish benefice with a committed PCC, excellent administrative support, a strong musical tradition, and a can do approach. We run activities for all ages, and have strong partnerships with local schools and Hadlow College. Our Vision 2030 project aims to make our building more flexible, sustainable, and welcoming for future generations.
We offer a welcoming congregation, a supportive leadership team, and a village ready to embrace its next spiritual leader with warmth and gratitude.
The Vicarage is a large 4 bedroom house in the centre of Hadlow, including office space.
If you feel called to rural ministry rooted in community, creativity, and hope — we would love to hear from you.
